Welcome to a leading amateur theatre and drama group in London!

AreAre you looking for a London theatre group? Looking for local drama group in London which is one of the leading amateur theatres in the UK and a professional-quality dramatic society with opportunities for amateur acting and getting involved in amateur dramatics? Or just looking for local theatre in West London where you can enjoy a full season of professional-quality productions?

Then you've found us! Welcome!

There are lots of reasons to discover The Questors Theatre for yourself:

  • You'll enjoy our theatre. We perform in our own high-quality theatre venue, including a 350-seat Playhouse and a 90-seat Studio theatre, both with comfortable seating and good sightlines, as well as a cafe and bar and also an extensive complex of rehearsal rooms, scenic workshop and wardrobe facilities. All this just eight minutes' walk from Ealing Broadway tube station.
  • You'll enjoy our plays. Every year we stage a season of 15-20 plays, ranging in style from modern dramas and comedies to classics of British and world theatre. These are performed to professional standards by our highly regarded company of talented amateur actors, directors, scenic designers, stage crew and technicians.
  • You'll enjoy our high quality. We're a proudly amateur theatre group, a member of the Society of Independent Theatres which represents the larger fringe theatres in London, and one of the biggest and most ambitious drama groups in London. The Royal Shakespeare Company has chosen us as one of six partner theatres for its Open Stages 2014-16 project (we're the only amateur theatre in the UK chosen); and in 2012 The Observer magazine described us as "the acme of amateur theatre". In 2013 one of our members was recognised by the Association of British Theatre Technicians as their Technician of the Year for his work here at The Questors Theatre.
  • You'll enjoy our friendliness. Our Box Office team and Stewards are all members of The Questors and look forward to welcoming you. And our Grapevine bar features in the Good Beer Guide and was recognised as CAMRA National Club of the Year 2012. (We take the quality of our social life as seriously as the quality of our plays!)
Whether you want to get involved in a leading London drama group, or simply enjoy regular visits to a friendly local theatre in West London, come and discover The Questors Theatre.

In the meantime, you might like to read what The Observer Magazine had to say in December 2012 about us:

Questors, in the west London borough of Ealing, is the acme of amateur theatre. Its state-of-the-art [350]-seater playhouse and smaller studio theatre are rarely out of use: it stages around [15] full productions a year. When I visit, Romeo and Juliet is in its final rehearsals. The director, who runs an online ironmongery in the daytime, sits at a trestle table alongside a stage manager, assistant stage manager, lighting manager and a prompt; ring-binders and scripts, covered in notes and Post-its, are sprawled around them. When someone wants to speak, there's no need to call for silence: the cast are well disciplined and eager. Occasionally overeager – when Romeo fights Tybalt in the first half run-through, he has to check he hasn't broken his friend's nose.

Juliet is a Westminster council worker in her 20s; at the interval she heads to the downstairs bar for a cheeky half. The cast rehearse four nights a week and every Sunday. "That's what's great about these guys," she says. "Some amateur groups like the drinking, they like the chatting. These guys know what they're here for." Five rehearsals a week sounds rather a hefty commitment. "Well, you have ups and downs. They're creative people, so it can get stressful sometimes." Two new members who have just arrived from Australia say they are astonished at how well resourced the organisation is. "They've got a huge workshop out the back where they make all their own sets and props," one of them tells me with wide eyes.
