Ageing, outrageous hippy Judy Haussman has just had a minor operation. She decides to bring her family together under the roof of her dilapidated art deco house on the Devon coast, with hilarious and chaotic results.
Her embittered daughter Libby and troubled granddaughter Summer are joined by son Nick, a former drug addict living from hand to mouth. Into this mix are thrown a local doctor and troubled teenager, Daniel.
All day drinking, infatuations and long held resentments result in emotional dysfunctionality and physical chaos. Libby and Nick teeter on the edge of nervous breakdowns as they struggle to prevent the loss of their inheritance whilst trying to manage the health and instability of their mother and a future full of uncertainty.
First performed at the National Theatre, the play was described by The Telegraph as ‘A stunning debut play’, and by The Observer as ‘A knockout play – entertaining, sad and outrageous’.
